What is Dry Mounting?
Dry mounting the process of heat-bonding a flat picture to another flat object such as card. This is usually a permanent process, but reversible products are available.
Advantages:
-
- the process can often totally flatten wrinkled or wavy artwork.
- the artwork is made stable.
- the backing provides rigidity and protection.
Our fantastic ‘Hot Press’ dry mounting vacuum press and laminator can vastly improve the appearance of wrinkled or creased images, or provide stability for delicate or thin items.
In addition to dry mounting, we laminate in a variety of special finishes, including Heatseal, which contains UV inhibitors, helping preserve your art and colours, and textured laminates, such as ‘Canvastex’, which turns your art into a canvas! Your art can be mounted onto various substances, including foam board and MDF. We recommend ‘Artcare Restore Foamboard’. We dry mount for many framers around the area.
